In line charger query

I purchased a charger for my battery from napa, but have not used it and want to exchange it for an in line charger that will automatically charge when I park and plug it into 110.
This is what I bought:

And I think what I'll need is maybe one of these:

If I understand the process, it fits under the front bench of the burro and hooks into the electrical there. Is one of these what I need?

That is a battery isolator used to allow your tow vehicle to charge more than one battery with its engine alternator. It does not hook up to 110 VAC. You should get an intelligent or smart charger with 3 or 4 stage charging. You can can leave them hooked up to the battery without worring about overcharging. I use a model 3300 from this company.

Before I bought a new power converter that has the smart charger in it, I wired a flush mount 4 prong plug to the battery, using two of the terminals, one for positive, one for negative. I mounted it on the end of a seating area. The other end of the plug I put two short leads to match the plus & negative of the mounted one. When the battery needed charging I would plug in the leads and hook a regular auto battery charger to them. The charger gauge will show when the battery is charged. This is a much cheaper solution than a converter/ charger, mine was $170. I would think one of the battery tender chargers would work good, they are designed to keep batterys charged in cars that are in storage.

Thank you so much - both of you - you've saved me from another mistake.

You might want to take a look at this thread:

The original poster put it in a Trillium 4500, but it would work in any trailer. He paid about $200 for it.

Thanks David. It appears I need to either learn the language and electrical concepts or find a shop I can trust. This looks like it is going to be over my head. Know of someplace in the LA area that will find the least expensive way to get my 82 Burro battery charged when I'm plugged into 110?

Sue, don't give up so easily. Worst case, you can just buy a smart charger made for cars and clip it to the battery terminals and plug it in. But installing a converter is only a little harder and you can do it with our help.

A smart charger that you just clip on and plug in:

That sounds hopeful Thomas. I'm going to the lake casitas rally in October. Maybe there will be an old fiberglass like mine - if I can see the setup.

I think that you will be surprised at how easy it is once you understand how it works.
