Given that the instructions state clearly on a label in that compartment to put the BLACK wire on the positive post, I think you will be creating a HUGE problem for the next owner. The battery will be long gone and all that will be left are wires with incorrect colors re: the standard Casita colors.

Please do not recolor wires in a camper.

Adding a label saying where the green wire goes would be all that's needed.

And that statement takes us back to post number 12...

Whoot, get a copy of a Casita manual. I have a feeling you will be needing it. One or more can be found on the Casita Travel Trailer Forum and elsewhere.

I marked the wires going to the battery on my Casita - Red for Positive & Black for negative - put a label indicating the color code on the battery compartment door and on the battery .
The battery connections for my portable solar panel were also marked accordingly
In 6 years I never had one single problem - It’s just not that complicated !!

And about a wire that goes to the frame - I suspect the wight or the green goes to the frame. Me, I would do a continunity test to see which one is connected to the frame on the other end.

So, everywhere EXCEPT the battery compartment, black is positive and in the battery compartment black is negative?

That sounds like a problem for the next owner, or anyone who services anything in your camper.

But its your camper, you can do what you want with it.

Casita Wires

Please folks some of these answers are not correct for the Casita. WHOOT, I beg you to get the manual along with the wiring diagram. PM me and I'll tell you how. Or not, your choice. I am also a Casita owner.

I respectfully suggest you read Post #7 where Whoot references the Casita Owners manual

Does the order that you connect the cables to the posts matter? I've read in google where some people say to connect black cable (positive) to red post (positive) first, then connect green cable (neutral) to black post (ground/negative), second. And white cable (negative) to black post (ground/negative), last. I also read the opposite of that order, so I am confused.

Connect positive first and then negative, At least on a negative ground system.
The reason is if your wrench connects from the pos post to a metal part of the vehicle it wont mater because its not grounded to the battery yet

How long is a new battery supposed to last if everything but the propane detector is turned off? My new battery seems to drain within a few days while just sitting there. The propane detector with the green light near the floor, is the only thing on. I got a fancy battery checker that shows "green" right after I've been charging it with my generator, but quickly goes to "yellow" after a little use. It was "red" after sitting for a week.

I charge it with my Honda generator, I don't know if it is better to charge with the generator running at "full" power, or the "eco" power, where it runs quietly until there is a significant power draw (like the A/C).

Between the 2015 Casita, new battery, and fancy battery checker, I don't know how long I am supposed to "charge" the battery using the generator. Or what voltage the battery should be charged to, and how low I should let it go before I need to charge it with the generator.

The refrigerator is completely off, as are all lights. I think I got the battery wired correctly. Normally, I have shore power, so I'm not use to using the battery and generator.
