Unless you need for AC, for $1150 I think you'd get more solar than you'd need. And less to go wrong. I seem to spend more time maintaining a gas motor than using it, at least that's my experience.

I've got a couple portable solar panels ( total of 80 watts ) and now leave my Honda 1000 at home. I don't need a lot of power ( unless I use the furnace a lot ).
