Newbie questions about battery power

Hey All!

I've never ever owned a camper, always tented it. I now have a Boler, and would like to add a battery (it doesn't have any right now...going to hire someone to do it), but first, I'd like to know what to expect for using it. Meaning:

1. Will one battery be enough to power the interior lights? (I guess this is a very vague question since I don't know what lights I'm going to add, I've heard that LED are "low power", right?)

2. Would I be able to plug in say a slow cooker and run it all day? Radio? Electric stove burner?

3. We will always have a generator with us (bf will be doing motorcycle track days requiring him to run tire warmers, hence generator), will a generator re-charge the battery? If so, how long would a drained battery take to re-charge?

Sorry guys, I know these might be dumb questions....but I know nothing about power and camping

Led lights less power.
Need a deep cycle battery.
Electric cooker could run off your generator, if its big enough.I don't think just a battery would hold up.
Enjoy your new rig.

1. One group 24 or group 27 battery will power your lights for several days without recharging. Depending on how many lights, type of lights, and how long they're on. Without running furnace and CCFL lights (about the same current requirements as LESs) I can go about 10 days. Furnace shortens that to a minimum of 2 day in really cold weather to about 5 days with cool nights and warm days.

2. All heating appliances take large amounts of current will run a battery down rapidly. Radio will be ok. Use other methods of cooking. Slow cooking Dutch Ovens work great. Camp stove for stove top cooking.

3. Yes, I would suggest a good battery charger that you plug into the generator. How long depends on several things like how much you're run it down. A good battery charger will tell you when it's charged with a bit of experimentation you'll know about how long to charge. I would start with a daily charging and watching when it's fully charged. From that you can get some idea.

Hope this helps a bit.
