Nova Kool refrigerator

Has anyone installed a Nova kool fridge in their Scamp?
I have a 1987 19' scamp and want to go to a 12 volt preferably two door refrigerator.

Which fridge model? They make a wide range of fridges based on different technologies. From absorption fridges to compressor-based.

Nova Kool refrigerator

I installed a Nova Kool fridge. The model 2600 fit in the old space well. I already had a 100watt solar, so just connected it up to that. Actually that part I had done by an electrician as I consider electricity a form of magic. I just got the DC model. It has worked superbly for me!

How are you set up in terms of batteries and recharging? You said a 2-door unit, so that sounds like a larger one.

I am specing out the system before I start.
I see limited boon docking and will run a generator if necessary.

You mention a specific brand of 12 volt refrigerators. I would suggest you extend your search to off grid or solar refrigerators. The primary difference that I have seen is the Marine/RV specific units have a latch mechanism on the doors. Not worth double the cost.

Sure. I ordered through Backwoods Solar which is in Sandpoint Idaho. Their phone number (208)263-4290. They are very helpful! and I get the impression they can be be helpful with the solar connection part too.

I found mine at Ben's discount supply. https://bensdiscountsupply.com/
If you do a web search there are a couple of others sites like Ben's. Also check some of the Marine supply sources as well.

Rec Pro Refrigerator

Has anyone used a Rec Pro refrigerator?
If so what compressor does it use and does it seem to be efficient?

I looked at the RecPro site and the larger 12V refrigerators are clearly marked cyclopentane. That is a common refrigerant used today. It is odd that they don't give you much information on the 3.3 cu/ft unit where as the larger units it list startup amperage and running average amperage. I would call RecPro and ask them about the unit just to verify it is a 12V compressor unit and get the specifics on power usage.
I would suspect it is cyclopentane compressor unit with a start up amperage of around 7 amps and a running usage of around 1 amp. The 15 amps mentioned on there site is probably the recommended circuit size.
I have purchased from RecPro in the past and been happy with them if it is any help.

is there a reason you don't want propane? I just installed a Norcold n3150 double door in my trillium and love it
