Replace a convertor or not 17 bigfoot

Hi All

I have acquired a Paralaxe converter 6720D.

The question I have is? Do you think it is a good idea to change out my 40-year bigfoot converter for the one above?

Swap out converter.

Hi All

I have a 1980 17' bigfoot and looking for some advice on the 40-year-old converter. I was ably acquired a Parallax 6730D and do think I should swap this converter out for the old one.

I understand the electrical a bit but was wondering what others have done.

so, it's probably and upgrade from what you have, but not the newest model, it says it will charge battery, but does not say if it has smart charge capability.
if the one you have works, it might not be worth the effort.
I changed the guts of mine so that I had a new smart charging converter, but the old breaker box so I didn't have to fool with as much wiring. I installed a PD9145 converter in the space my old converters transformer section was mounted in

everybody has an opinion, you need to do what works for you

It's generally agreed that you should replace the converter in these old trailers, because the charger could fry the battery, and aren't smart chargers. Whether or not the one you're looking to replace it with is the best way to go is a different conversation. Getting a new PD (progressive dynamics) converter has been on my list since buying my camper in 2016, but the fact is I only plug in once or twice a season, so it's not high up the priority list.
