Rigid Panel atop Air Conditioner?

I have a '96 16' Scamp. Has anyone mounted a rigid 100 watt solar panel on top of the air conditioner? My conditioner is 'standard' and appears to be encased in a fiberglas box with 4 screw bolts on top. It appears strong enough to hold a panel, but I have lost several solar panels over the years when caught in terrific wind blows from a heavy storm out on the Great Plains. The wind ripped the panel away however those panels were on a Teardrop Trailer and within 5 feet of the ground. On the Scamp the panel would be about 10' off the ground.

Any advice or 'yay' or 'nay' appreciated.

I'm not sure the AC cover mounting system is strong enough for the added resistance of a 100 watt solar panel. I'd stick to a portable or roof mounting.

based on the number of roof top AC covers residing along side the road I wouldn't mount anything on top of it. Once the cover gets old the plastic gets very fragile.

When I bought my Scamp 13 from the factory, I asked about mounting solar panels later. They said it would affect the integrity of the roof and strongly recommended against it.

Thanks for the input. I will not attempt positioning a panel on the air conditioner. Thanks again for saving me all that grief.
