Run off battery?

Does anyone know what can be ran in our 1989 16ft Scamp Deluxe, off the battery? We tried it, and so far it seems only a few lights will run off the battery. Was hopeful to be able to run the electric water pump or possibly even an outlet to plug the fan in!???

Thanks

I was going to suggest checking out the Scamp owners manual in the document center. 2 problems with that. The file is missing and the owners manual does not really explain what runs off the battery. Their video is about as helpful.

Here is a link to the full Scamp Owners Manual:

(Maybe a moderator can get a copy back in the document center.)

Most of the essentials are designed to run off the battery (12V DC), like the lights, water pump, DC outlets (cigarette lighter type) and fans, but not anything using 120V AC will not, like the duplex plugs and fridge on AC, and if you have them, air conditioning, electric water heater, microwave and the like.

An inverter will transform 12V DC to 120V AC for use with 120V stuff, but depending upon what you use, would put a big draw on the battery and drain it rather fast.

Scamps are a little skinmp for lights and DC outlets, some have no dc outlets from the factory. But the water pump and at least two or three lights should work and the water pump is on it's own fuse. Open a tap and turn on the switch and see what happens.
Did you verify that the battery is connected and charged? It should read at least 12.2 volts with the shore power cable unplugged.

We did manage to get a few of the lights to operate on battery-however, we could not get the pump to run. My husband is purchasing a new battery today, to see if this may be the problem---I will also have him check the inline fuse to ensure that its ok.
