StarLink

Rather than hi-jacking other threads about Wi-Fi, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread exclusively for StarLink. This seems like the best sub-form.

Please post up links on StarLink, thoughts, etc. here. I would be really interested to hear from anyone that is in the Better Than Nothing Beta program

Here's an article I came across this morning that shows the guts of the antenna: https://hackaday.com/2020/11/25/lite...3GaKnlb4AG-TOI

Definitely looking forward to signing up once it's more widely available. The early reports on speed and latency look really good. I was originally hoping to permanently mount the antenna on the roof, but that's looking less viable. should still be relatively easy to set up when stopped, at least.

I bet the size, cost, and power draw on the antenna will also come down over time. Might be a couple years for the second revision, though.

Coverage in Ontario, CA https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/s...W0tn3ldVny9tAo
Should have good coverage in upper Minnesota? I assume the prices discussed are in CA dollars not US.

Looks like Starlink will be approved to be used in mobile (RV) applications later this year: https://www.pcmag.com/news/movable-s...ZCMaeajDincFiE
