What fuses & holders for Solar system?

I have a starter system ordered and am trying to figure out and order the fuses and holders. Information on this issue seems to be rare and one-off when I find it. I can't believe I am havning to reinvent the wheel on this fuse thing. So, what DC rated fuses are used and what kind of holder?

I went with min-anl fuses and fuse holders. That stems from my days in car audio. It allowed me to choose a fuse holder that would take the wire size of my choice. I've never been a fan of glass fuses, they always seem to fail at the worst time. You can also get fuse holders for regular blade fuses pretty much anywhere. As for what size fuse, that comes down to your controller and wire size.

Not sure what fuses and holders you believe you need for your solar system or why? I didn't have to add anything to mine. If you already have the two inline fuses Scamp buts on their trailers - one off the battery and the other just inside the house where the wiring enters and a solar controller connected directly to the battery with the correct amps for your panels why do you need more fuses and holders?

What am I missing on my set up? confused?

My controller required it's own 25 amp fuse between the controller and the battery. I presumed that's what he was asking about. Some people fuse the wire from the panel to the controller, I'm not one of them.

Thanks Drew for the clarification - so basically it comes down to what the controller manufacture specifies. I don't believe the instructions with my controller requiring a fuse between it and the battery thus the reason for not adding one. Been in place with lots of use in 6 years and no issues.
