09’ LD Casita water exiting city connection

Water is coming out of the city water connection when I use the water pump for the fresh water tank. And actually hot water too, which I understand might be an additional issue. Found out during dewinterizing process.

Has anyone else experienced this and /or know the parts I should be looking at for the fix or inspection? Links would be excellent too.

I am in the Portland, Oregon area and would also love a contact to a trusted mechanic or name of someone/company that you would recommend for fiberglass trailer work in this area.

Sounds like a bad check valve in your connection. Here's some video on how to replace....your connections may be a bit different but concept is the same. Good luck.

Running some hose water through the water connection may get the valve working properly. Keeping the cap on when not connected will stop you from losing water until you find and fix the problem.

I keep one of these 90 degree hose adapters with shutoff permanently attached to trailer to keep the water hose tight to the side of the trailer when hooked up.
It's much easier to tighten the hose connection with those wings on it.

The shutoff could serve as a fix when the check valve acts up.

I also close the valve when leaving the trailer unattended while connected to campground water.

These are great suggestions. I’ll be working on this in the next few weeks and I’ll report back.

My connection is currently like Gayle and Bob’s but with just the little rubber cap like the one Little House Customs has.

We obtained the plastic knob that makes attaching the hose easy from LHC. We obtained the plastic cap that screws in and acts as a closed valve for redundancy from Amazon. We also use this same cap design on our potable water tank pressurized fill port for redundancy too. We went to great length to minimize aerodynamic frontal area and associated aerodynamic drag to maximize towing MPG since we travel long distances.

Be careful that the handle on the drain doesn't cause too much lift on that side of the trailer at highway speed due to the wing affect as air passes over it.

No worries, it uses a quick disconnect like our shower and outdoor faucets and it only gets installed when actually needed. We are currently getting 23 MPG towing performance and if not for for the AC unit on roof, expect we could get 24-25 MPG. We found a nice electric dimming sky light that would be nice for stargazing from the bed that could replace the AC unit, but we haven't pulled that trigger yet. We are still recovering from our drive and 3 month trip to Costa Rica, 3 month trip from there to New Zealand and then the drive back to Southern Oregon. And we are only now finally getting to constructing the steel building for our Casita trailer and tractor and we need to complete it before the hot weather arrives. It will have a full hookup...20/30/50A RV pedestal, water and dump out port. The Potable/Gray water will be used for supplemental irrigation and the Black water will go to our septic system. And then there is the ongoing backyard Summer Salmon/Steelhead run...
