5 gal. pail pump, for filling fresh water tank

I purchased this neat little gadget at our local Tractor Supply store. It is a hand pump for a five gal. pail. I know you can buy electric and battery pumps, but this might be handy when those are not. It was only $7.49, so it didn't break the bank.

i plan to get another lid for my 5 gallon bucket, and put a hole in it for the pump, so I do not have to worry about any debris entering my water as I pump it into my tank. Terry

That pump is designed for oils and lubricants. You may want to find out if it's suitable for potable water.

Good point. Seems to be metal with water safe tubing. Metal coil could be removed. As long as there is no lead should be no problem, but should be investigated.

Thanks.

I am reminded of the Armstrong Clothes Washer

Lots of you are probably familiar with the "Armstrong". It is a 5 gallon bucket with a hole in the lid for a new toilet plunger (I suppose it doesn't have to be new). I understand the plunger makes a better agitator if some holes are cut in it.

Pic is just below halfway down.

If you were to install some valving in your potable water pump you could use it do the same thing.
A second pump would work as well.
The pump could also be used to winterize the system.

We were just looking for a no mod easy solution. Also, wanting something that uses no battery or electric. I have contacted the company and they are researching the product.

With little modification, I think it could be perfectly safe and a handy item. We will wait and see what the manufacturer says. I will get back to you if indeed it is totally safe.

If you are trying to pump water into your tank from a bucket, this boat pump might be a better choice. They come in all sizes and are made for water pumping.
