Adding a water heater

I've got a 6 gallon atwood water heater and i'm looking at putting it into my Scamp 16. I'm trying to decide the best location for the water heater.

Currently I'm thinking under the drivers side rear dinette bench right next to the fridge as the fresh water tank and plumbing fill up the other bench and we have an external hand held shower under the sink along with the breaker box. My other reason for considering this location is the ease of tapping into the gas as the fridge and furnace already have gas hook ups close by.

That's where I installed one in our 13' Scamp, and it worked out great. I removed the bench for the installation, then replaced it after. I did have to "sandwich" a backer plate made of wood between the trailer skin and the water heater box. It was easy placing a "T" in the cold water line to feed the heater and another one in the copper propane line at the furnace feed. Best of luck.

When you tap into the propane line you should use a flaring tool in the copper line. Use of compression fittings is not legal with propane.

The water heater is pretty heavy, not by itself, but because of the 6 Gallons of water. In my Scamp it is sitting on top of the wheel well on the starboard side, almost under the sink. This location is good for anything heavy. Too far front or back might have and effect on tongue weight and the towing dynamics.
