Bigfoot Propane System

Hi all. So last year I got a 1979 Bigfoot B16. Been slowly using it and going through stuff as time goes on. Anyway I’m now wanting to hook up the propane bottles and test the system for leaks and also all the appliances etc. what’s the best way to do this any advice ?? Also where the bottles mount there’s just a couple hoses is there supposed to be any sort of regulator or adaptor as well ? Any input is appreciated! Thanks in advance. - Willy

With two LP cylinders, you need an auto change over regulator, and pigtails to connect the tanks to the regulator. Out the bottom of the regulator will be 3/8 NPT and a proper gas rated hose going to where ever the hard lines begin.

Marshall Excelsior MEGR-253P-PT15 Standard Regulator and Hose Kit - 15" Pigtail Hoses

You also need a bracket to hang the regulator on the threaded rod that is used for the cylinder hold down.

Marshall Excelsior MEGR-RVB Universal L-Mount Regulator Mounting Bracket

Lastly, you need a vent cover, which is a DOT requirement.

Marshall Excelsior MEGR-862 Regulator Cover 2 Stage for MEGR-291 298 and 253 Series

Here is the Marshall-Excelsior RV and Camping catalog, where on Catalog page 16 (PDF page 18) you will find 3/8 hoses with various ends and in different lengths.

Example of one of these hoses, on Amazon.

Marshall Excelsior is all made in the USA and of very good quality, I highly recommend them. DO NOT buy the Flame King regulator and pigtails that will pop up on Amazon, it is junk.
