Broken Plastic Faucet

Hi

Finally did a one-evening "get-the-lead-out" season starter trip to Golden Ears, BC this weekend. Awesome weather. Beautiful scenery.

Before we left I was cleaning the water tank when the expected happened - the plastic pump/on-off handle broke. It's not like it was unexpected (plastic stuff often does not last) however there it is. So I now need to replace it with something more respectable.

It is for a 2011 Outback. It acted as a pump and an on-off valve when hooked up. I hope to replace with a metal version with manual pump.




Any suggestions?

I had the same thing happen in my Scamp. I replaced it with this. Others have done the same thing.

Tks for the tip Byron. Quite a few comments on Amazon say this model leaked. Makes me a bit nervous. Someone said the company did have a problem but it has since been resolved. Dunno.

Any others? Should I go with a 12 VDC pump instead of manual?

I did have one started to leak after about 4 years and a few hundred nights camping. It's pretty difficult to design these things with a permanent seal. The seals will wear out at some point. The current one is over 2 years old now. Scamp original lasted, two of them, lasted about 2 months each.

Plumbing is not one of my strengths to say the least. Will the RP800 operate much like the original where obviously it pumps water from the water tank but also acts as a on/off valve for when hooked up to city water?

There's no valve to allow it work in pressurized system. It's strictly a hand pump. Since this is a bit more than that you might want to check with a local RV repair place.

The original manual pump died in the first year that I had my trailer.

I changed to the same Valterra Rocket manual pump. I'm on my second one. The first lasted about 7 years, the current one has been in for the last 4 years.

I carry an extra Rocket pump in my "what if it happens in the boonies" bin.

The faucet I have (in pic) allows for both pumping and on/off from pressurized city water which is handy. I emailed Joe at Compact lightweight fiberglass Outback travel trailers Calgary | Trillium Trailers where I bought the trailer and he is mailing a replacement handle. What great service!

If the second handle fails, I will then seek an alternative faucet.
