Can't find replacement Dometic Door anywhere.

Hi All, I'm at my wits end and hoping someone has a good parts dealer they can vouch for. I need a new door for my R2454 fridge.

Dometic hasn't responded to me. I've called 12 'dealers and service centers' from their website, I've gotten 7 voicemails, 3 disconnected phone numbers, and 2 'you need to contact the manufacturer.

Hell, even Casita told me to contact dometic.

I don't know why this is so hard.

Please help.

Even my authorized service centre can't get through.

This one seems to indicate that it's in stock.

At $235, I'd want to be sure I couldn't repair mine and couldn't find a salvage door before I bought a new one.

RV Parts Country has one for about $1,000. Amazon has the whole fridge for that price.

What is wrong with your door? Ours broke one of the plastic hinges so we had a welder make a flat hinge with the hole the size of the peg the door fits on and have the piece go about 10 inches along the bottom of the door to hold it on. He drilled holes every couple of inches and screwed the piece onto the door. It is better than new now and no chance of breaking again. If that is your problem let me know and I'll send pictures of what we did. They wanted over $200 for the door with a plastic hinge and it would've taken 4-6 weeks to get it. That was about 3 years ago.

The door definitely needs to be replaced.
I rebuilt the hinge last year with JB weld (reinforced with well placed strips of gorilla tape), and that has held up perfectly.

This year the bottom trim piece was breaking up pretty bad, and when I went to replace it I realized the door itself was really warped. I thought about trying to fix it with a heat gun, but with a seal thats about ready to be replaced, unknown trim pieces that need replaced, I think a new door is the way to go.




After venting my frustration on here last week, I decided to start from scratch and not quit until I was done.

I worked backwards from some parts catalogues, and hopefully have ordered the correct color and correct hinge side.

Dometic is moving most of their supply chain out of China to Mexico and other locations, so they have interruptions in the supply of parts for everything.

Hope you found something that works.

Might give Little House Customs a call and see if Larry still has the "test fridge" he used a few years ago around and wants to part that out. He used it for a bunch of experiments to try and make the fridge work better. Another alternative is RV places that deal with salvage from wrecks.
