Casita water tank change out?

Has anyone changed out the 16 gallon fresh water tank to the 23 gallon tank and if so, how hard was it to do.

Thanks,

Dave

The fresh water tanks were already taken out of my Casita when I got it and I liked having the space for storage, so I hung an 21 gal. tank under the floor in rear between frame using "C" clamps. 3/8 threaded rod and 1-1/2 angle stock. It doesn't hang any lower then the Gray tank and was easy to do.

I would guess that changing out the existing tank would involve temporarily removing the fiberglass shell under the bench seat cushions.

You need to remove the rear fiberglass (door side) seat, it has screws along the back side, two coming in under the sink area and a few along the floor. If you purchase the tank from Casita or Little house customs it should be as simple as removing the old tank, moving the two floor supports / anchors, getting a larger metal clamp and placing it back in place. Fairly easy job. The fill and connections should all line up.

water tank

My 1994 Casita had a 10 gallon fresh water tank. Replaced with a 25 gallon fresh water tank. Very easy as I lifted out the fiberglass bench and found lots of room for the 25 gallon fresh water tank. Sure do enjoy the extra water,

Unhappy Broken shower drain line on my 2018 Casita

It appears that the shower drain line under my casita...which has a screw in-line filter...loosened from one side and broke the black connecter ring (right side). The side that broke is glued in place so I can't just unscrew and remove it to put a new one on. I am told by Casita service that I will have to cut the
1 1/2 PVC and then glue the new connector on. Problem is there is and elbow about a couple of inches from where the line needs to be cut. I have ordered a new filter and connector.. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Water tank change.

The hardest part of the change is where you’ll put the mattress and table top.
There is not much room in the Cacita.
You will need a roll of teflon tape and what I call plumbers tape.
Plumbers tape is metal with holes along its whole length.
I paid about 3 dollars for 23 feet , it’s not expensive.
The change shouldn’t take more than 2 or 3 hours.

Not an easy fix in my opinion. Too many connections, too close together. The vent pipe makes it hard to just cut it all out and start over. It might be time to experiment with some rubber radiator hose and a couple of stainless hose clamps.

Please post results when you're done. Had similar issue with 2002 model and would like to see you how you did it.
Thanks.
