I've installed new flooring and insulation as the old flooring had pretty much disentegrated in the shower/toilet/bathroom sink area of the trailer.
I'm now reinstalling the bottom half of the two-piece
fiberglass toilet/sink/holding tank. There's a 4" ABS threaded pipe that screws into the lower side of the holding tank. It then goes out through a hole in the floor where the sewage hose can be hooked up for discharge.
I set it up on sawhorses the other day to check the connection for leakage. The tank holds about 10-15 gallons. I started filling the tank with water. By the time I got up to the threaded connect, I saw water leaking out. The 4" discharge pipe connects to the side of the tank - not at the bottom.
Once I saw that I had a leak, I emptied the water and unscrewed the discharge pipe. I saw that there was originally some sort of gunk put on the threads.
I've cleaned up the threads on the tank AND on the 4" (male) ABS discharge pipe.
QUESTION: what kind of sealant should I use to prevent leakage? Liquid Loctite?
Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
