laundry detergent safe for tanks?

I want to do my laundry in my Casita, so I bought some "Tide free & gentle" to wash some clothes in a bucket and drain it in to my Grey Water tank. Will this destroy the seals? I plan to immediately dump the tanks, so the used detergent would only be in there briefly.

There's no problem, and your detergent won't hurt the seals. No need to immediately "dump" your tanks. In fact, the detergent will help break up some of the grease deposits in the tank if you leave it in there. I would only dump it when it's full.

We do this. We have a compact washer we carry with us during long trips. Washing outside, I drain into a 5 gallon bucket and put it into the black and grey tanks. Cleans them and leaves a fresh scent.

I got some "ECOS" plant-based detergent which is billed as "greywater safe", did a wash and a rinse cycle in a 5 gal bucket, and now the clothes are hanging in my shower. Thanks!

Seals are probably Buna-N material; nothing much bothers them aside from petroleum solvents.
