Hey Larry- What did you come up with for dumping the gray? Seems as if the black could just go along for the same ride.

Gray Water?

Hi Shelby,

The gray water is distributed around the property using a garden hose
in the summer time. In winter the hose tends to freeze up so I have
the sewer outlet of the trailer draining into 20 feet of 3 inch plastic pipe
that I can move around a bit.

No black water makes it into the system as all that is in the composting
toilet. The liquids from the toilet are spread around the perimeter of the
acre the trailer sits on... I have noticed no odor or plant degradation from
the spreading of the liquid waste. The solids from the toilet are treated
for at least a month in a secondary plastic chamber that sits in the sun.
After that time it can be used to fertilize the weeds around the property or
put in the landfill when visiting there. Am I wrong in thinking that a little
dried waste in the land fill is no more detrimental than the thousands of
used diapers that go in each month?

Funny, in the dry part of the summer here in Arizona the only green part
of my yard is at the end of the gray water garden hose.

Uncle Larry

I just got my first Scamp and plan on some cold weather camping. When I camped in my van I used a Luggable Loo lined with a biodegradable bag with some Aspen shavings inside. It worked pretty well. I'm going to secure a bag with wood shavings inside my flushable toilet for short cold weather trips and while on the road (if no other toilet is available.)
