Plumbing black/grey water
I have a 1984 Scamp 19' 5er. My grey and black water have seperate very inconvenient exit points that require unhooking the sewer line and reconnecting when I want to dump one or the other. I have made up my mind to run them into a Y with seperate shut offs but only one access point. Has anyone here already done this and be willing to share any hints? Do the newer models still have this inconvenience? I have seen Y'd sewer hoses but it doesn't look all that difficult to make a permanent fix.

thats the way my trillium was set-up, you can buy a single outlet valve with an 1-1/2 and a 4 inch connection which is what I did with mine

I have a line on a couple of different valves and it doesn't look all that difficult to fix. I suppose I'm wondering why they would have done this in the first place; is there something I haven't thought out? It doesn't make sense having to disconnect and reconnect.

I wonder if it was because draining grey on the ground used to be somewhat accepted in the olden days where it is not now?
Anyway most newer rigs use a combined outlet with 2 gate valves, one for each tank.
So I can't imagine a problem mod-ding one into that?

Well, this I have to see. I don't know how you're going to run the line for the gray water to the front to match up with the black water, without running it under the axle. Or in reverse.
I've spent a long time under my trailer trying to figure a way, what I worry about is the plumbing hanging down too low..... good luck... because if you get this figured out, I'm going to follow!

Donna I looked online and they have sewer hoses that Y into one. If all else fails I'll def go that way. I have looked at it though and it didn't strike me as impossible. I'll definately look at it further and let you know how it turns out.

At least there are options if all else fails. If it is too low I may even make a "manifold" that can be installed temp while camping and taken off while driving. Just have to look at the best option but clearly having two seperate exit points isn't the best.

The coupler elbow that makes the last turn into the campground sewer has a blanked "garden hose" fitting. Just punch out the the middle of the garden hose threads, add a " garden hose female adapter" then you can make the connection with the items Donna listed to connect the separate Gray water outlet at the same time to the same sewer.
RV Products & Accessories- Click on "RV Product Videos".
- Then click on "Original EZ Coupler Thread-On Fitting".
- Fast forward to the final third of the video by clicking & dragging the time slider at the bottom of the video player to align with the end of the last "A" in the word "Valterra" printed on the tablecloth.

I think it's because the black tank is so far away from the gray tank, and Scamps normally have too low a ground clearance for permanent exposed plumbing.

Do the later model Scamps still have seperate grey and black water outlets?

Nothing has changed the way Scamp manufactures for YEARS.

Hello Donna, what are you thinking when you say, trying to figure out how to do it?
I have a Rule 97a pump to move shower and or drain water if you need one.

Not looking to move the water to the tanks, looking to move from TWO valves to one. But thanks!

Since 14" wheels and tires will work fine over stock 13", as confirmed by me personally calling Scamp. That would give the 1" to 1 1/2" extra clearance to run a 1 1/2" pipe from the grey tank forward where it can be integrated into a 2 into 1 Y with seperate valves. Sounds easy enough.

Are you including the slope for gravity drainage in your calculations?

Not even looking at it Frederick. I need to get over there and see if the axle is in the way and some other factors before I can give a definitive answer. I did however give it a cursory look while on the road this past summer and it looked very doable to me. As far as slope all of the grey water tank will be above the drain and it didn't appear, on first glance, to have any slope. But, even if it did and only drained the top half that would be livable.

Hummm. The size of the tires don't have anything to do with it. It's the axle placement. I have 15" tires on my Scamp.
Unless you have a spacer between the axle and the frame... the axle is right against the cross member on the frame. There isn't any space between the floor, the frame and the axle to run a pipe. You'll need to run the pipe under the axle. If you only drain half the gray water, that will leave 13 gallons in the tank.

My 2011 5th wheel has separate outlets. I don't think Scamp is big on changing the blueprint.
