Shower Pump Question (Empty shower pan in 5th Wheel Scamp)

I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the pump that empties the shower pan. I am trying to figure out if I need to look at replacing it or not. Sometimes when I flip the pump on it doesn't start so I need to go outside the Scamp and tap the pump with a rubber mallet. Is that common or is the pump getting weak?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Gail,

I recently replaced the shower pump on my 98 Scamp 16'. My pump motor still worked but the pump leaked. When I took it apart I found the rubber parts were shot.

I ordered the replacement pump from Scamp and also bought and installed the grey water filter. My former pump didn't have a filter and it probably contributed to the pump wear. The new pump is much larger and with 3/4" connections it drains the shower much faster. Due to it's size, I chose to mount the new pump under the recessed floor of the toilet area so it wouldn't hang too close to the road.

BTW, I called them to order rather than order on-line. I saved on shipping and was able to confirm I was ordering the pump they currently use for grey water. The web site wasn't too clear on that.
