Water leak in Casita SD

I would bet the farm that when it came from the factory the red pipe had the same Tee fitting and crimp rings as the blue one does now (unless its a mod for something added to the hot line). The PEX fitting on the blue pipe is one of the most reliable types of plumbing fittings in the world - generally if it does not leak right after its installed it wont for a decade or two or longer*. I cannot say that for the one now on the red pipe which is the push on type that I am leery of. Looks like there was enough room for the crimping tool so I wonder why he did not use a crimper and ring just like the blue pipe. Keep an eye on it when the plumbing is under pressure.

But the house had aggressive water for all those years, and full time of course unlike a camper. The fitting actually got eaten away by the bad water and broke. But the copper crimp ring and pipe were fine. $700 bill (we ran all new line to the well to be safe).

If you look at her picture closely you'll see the standard crimp style PEX fittings on the hose running along the floor in the background. I only see a Sharkbite fitting going up to the outside shower hot water hose that was probably installed later. Could have been a replacement for whatever reason. I can only assume that the original owner did it. I have never been a fan of Sharkbite style fittings either. I have never trusted them and I still don't.

Here's a pic of my factory installed outside shower hook-up, where they used crimp style fittings on that as well.

And it was mentioned in a post above recommending the use of those screw-type hose clamps. Please do not use screw-type clamps. They will strip their threads before you could ever get them tight enough. PEX hose, despite being plastic, is very stiff, and I would guarantee that if used, those screw clamps won't get a good seal. They can't compress the PEX hose enough.

I had the same issue with my 2019 17'SD. If you have an outside shower, look under the dinette seat next to the toilet wall. There you will find 2 plastic nuts on the hot and cold water lines. Mine were loose enough to leak and water ran under the dinette table. Another leak was under the bed on the water heater side. The water pump has a traditional hose clamp on the fresh water side. It also was loose enough to leak. These issues happened after we camped 1 time. I'm thinking things just needed to settle in.

It sounds like you found your leak source. Congrats. I had a leak that caused the carpet in the rear of my 16' Casita SD, rear dinette area, to get soaked. We ended up tearing the whole backend of trailer up searching for the leak. We finally discovered the water was coming in the rear brake light fixture and leaking inside, down the wall and pooling near the table. No wet walls at all. I write this to let you know if the tiny little gaskets on any of your lenses on your lights rots or falls out, it could allow water inside. We pulled the red lens cover off and could see water had pooled up, then drained into the trailer. Who knew?? Keep it in mind for the future. Maybe it will save you some time and a mess in the future.

Thank you all. I realize how ignorant I am! I have an RV repair guy coming tomorrow and with these ideas, I hope he can fix yhe problem and I get a basic lesson in Casita plumbing.

Reading in the A-z owners guide, she suggested that a water leak on the rear interior floor is due to the water line hose filter located inside the Casita...at least for that leak.

Any other ideas are welcome. I will let you know what the RV guys suggests and will share your ideas with him. Thanks again.

My recent leak was exactly as suggested...the water filter under the rear table burst. It's behind the wooden baseboard panel at the inside rear, under the table.
