Wanted: Bigfoot Stove Cover

Our 1988 Bigfoot 5th wheel is awesome but it's missing the 4 burner stove cover. The ones I've seen are metal and have a hinge so they fold in half, away from the stove. If you have one on a stove that doesn't work, I'd love to have extra counter space! Thanks!!

Hi I have a wooden cutting board to cover our stove top. Bought at camper world. It does bounce off in rough road conditions. I take it off when traveling.

I too use a "modified-to-fit" bamboo cutting board as a stove cover. Like mentioned above, I remove it while traveling because it will bounce off in transit otherwise, but it really adds a good amount of useable counter space for prepping once you're set up.

Thanks for the cutting board idea! I had looked at this but only briefly since the trailer is in storage (I can't make any measurements). I figured I'd give the forum a go in the meantime.

It is a stock item at the RV supply outlets. Several companies make them and refer to them as universal fit.

Another advantage of the wood cutting board versus the metal cover is that you can actually cut on the wood one without dulling your knives. Not so good on knife blades to cut on a metal surface. And, fwiw, I just think that they look more "homey" than some stark metal cover, but that's just my opinion. It is also handy for multiple uses other than cutting. A "free-standing" cutting board can also double as a flat surface when placed off to the side near the stove to stage things while cooking and it can also be used as a makeshift tray as well. A permanently mounted cover is much more limited in uses.

Those are all great points! It'd be nice to have one less thing to store while in transit, but those benefits could easily outweigh a small amount of hassle. Thanks!

In my case, I really wouldn't say that I "store" it. I just toss it on the bed next to the stove, right next to the Cuisinart toaster oven, when we get ready to travel. It might not work for everyone, especially if you don't have a full-time bed which we do, but it works quite well for me. It's also the same bed I put it on as a handy place to stage my "mise-en-place."
