Escape 21 or 19, or maybe Bigfoot 21

Looking for a used molded fiberglass trailer with both a permanent bed and a 4 person dinette that easily makes into a bed. That means an Escape 21, Escape 19, or Bigfoot 21 I think 25 is larger than we can handle . We have a Casita 17 Spirit Deluxe, but find the dinette/bed too small, so want to upgrade.

We're in eastern Massachusetts, so in or near New England would be ideal.

Forget it. We have decided to abandon the molded-fiberglass world, and will be getting a 2022 inTech Sol Horizon. We'll have it by March 1st.

I am sorry your search for an all-molded trailer did not bear fruit. In the current market, flexibility is an asset for the buyer, and I recall the inTech was also on your short list. I hope you'll check in from time to time and share a review of your new Horizon. Best wishes in your next round of travels!

Thanks, Jon—

I've been keeping track of used Escape 19s and 21s (and Bigfoot 21s), but all are rare and usually too far away. I am just not one to travel hundreds of miles to buy sight-unseen, and two trips are even less practical. When an Escape appears on the Escape Trailer Owners Community forum it is usually snapped up in a day or two. And lead time for new Escapes is a year and a half or more.

Since the inTech line was recommended on this board (thanks to Mike—of Mike and Carol—for the tip, and to Jack Walter for his report), we were able to see a Sol Horizon Rover via their Facebook group, and last week the dealer about 70 miles away let us look at a sold unit that had just arrived.

We really like the huge, open dinette with its picture window, and the rest of the trailer seems light, airy, and modern. Frankly, the inTech Sols make the Escapes seem old-fashioned, practically 'vintage'. In any case, we are able to snag one (that's being exhibited next month at the RV show in Springfield, MA) before a price rise in March, so we can upgrade this Spring, not in 2023. Maybe I should start a new thread out of the 'Wanted' section. . .

That interior looks great! I don't much care for the outboard wheels and fenders but I expect there may be packaging advantages to that design. All aluminum framing definitely reduces the potential for serious damage if it leaks.

The interior is sharp! Windows are everything and you sure have them!
Congratulations! Enjoy your new Trailer.

Here's a video walk-through of the inTech factory:

The Sol Horizon was introduced in 2019, I think, so its long-term durability has yet to be determined. But then, the odds are not in my favor, either.

I looked at them, before ordering a Bigfoot. One thing I didn’t like was the absence of a rear bumper.

The Rover package includes a bumper, though it's just aluminum rods, so not very strong I expect.

Right we were looking at the Terra, much larger and no bumper.
Nice, I am sure you will like the trailer. Plus you'll get it soon !

FYI, the Rover package is available on the Terra model as well. Includes the bumper, a 2 ⅝" lift, and more: https://intech.com/rv/models/terra/oasis/

The Terra is nice and spacious, but too big for us (as would be the Bigfoot 25').

There is a 21’ Bigfoot travel trailer for sale in Houston Texas.

I don't see any used ads for one. There's a new one at a dealer in Marble Falls, west of Austin. $74k.

Our new Sol Horizon is a lot closer, and a lot cheaper. Bigfoots are impressive trailers, though. . .

Bigfoot in MA

Mr. Lynn, I know you have ordered a new trailer (congrats). I have an older (2008) Bigfoot 21FB in Beverly, MA. If you are ever in the area, and would like to walk through one shoot me line.

Howdy John— Actually, we have cancelled our inTech order; see my post #32 in my 'Leaving the Fiberglass World' thread.

The Sol Horizon line has been hit with axles breaking off because of weak, welded frame hangers. That was too much for me, and I bailed out.

Probably should repost that.

I'd love to have a look at your Bigfoot 21 some time. Not selling it, are you? I assume not. I have a line on a used 2018 Escape 19 in NC, which will be available in a month. So assuming nothing closer materializes (which it probably won't) we'll be heading down there. These days we prefer daytime driving, so probably three days to get there.

You are correct, we just got it and will be beginning our adventure in RV camping this year. In all honesty it is a little bigger than we wanted for a first trailer, but I already own a 3/4 ton truck and figure we could make it work. If you are interested in seeing one in person, I am happy to have you take a look.

More details of our escape from the disaster inTech is experiencing with axles breaking off Sol Horizons, HERE.

We thought we had a backup, with a deal for an 2018 Escape 19, but the owner told me today he had decided to keep their E19, so no deal. So we're back to square one, hoping to find a fiberglass camper with a back bed and a front dinette/bed, ideally an Escape 19 or 21C. . .

UPDATE: No Sol for me! They can't hold on to their axles! I'm back in the fiberglass fold, and really want an Escape 21, or 19, or Bigfoot 21RB—not FB. For details, see HERE.

Sorry for duplicating. I was hoping to edit my 'Leaving' post way above, but I guess you can't edit after a week or so.
