Scamp 13ft, bunk layout
We've owned this around 10 years and are the 2nd owners. Haven't used it in a few years now and an impending move prompted us to pass it along. Overall i'd say it's in good shape, please read below for the good, the bad and the other.
The Good
Always stored in garage or carport. Used lightly maybe 2 3 weeks a year for our ownership. Factory closet a/c unit works well and gives the
Scamp a lower profile making it easier to get in/out standard garages. No known
leaks, all
windows and screens intact and working. All the cushions are good condition with life left in them. Overhead cabinet storage at each end. Some miscellaneous upgrades over the years to include Horizon Retractable
Awning, LED bulbs, 12vdc outlets with USB power ports, new velcro curtains, screen door. Has a porta potty under the bunk/couch. Some of the storage compartments are full of stuff you'll probably need or want to start Scamping; you're welcome to it or you can leave it behind. I'll also leave 2 small toolbags that contain common tools and such to setup, takedown and maintain the
Scamp. The bearings were re packed prior to our last trip in 2018. Has had a carpet cover over the original carpet since new.
The Bad
Our puppy chewed the side marker
lights; 3 mounts are still intact and the 4th is just some wires sticking out. Our puppy also damaged the fresh water intake port. I'll include pictures of the damage. The rear
light enclosures have a little bit of melt damage; I guess the intensity was too much for the plastic on a long trip at some point. I've replaced those
lights with
LED lights that don't get near as hot. Probably a good 1/2 of the rivet caps have been lost over the years; the rivets are intact just the plastic caps are missing. The screen door track is a little wonky.
The Other
When the
refrigerator went it was replaced with a dorm style ac power
refrigerator; as such it only work on ac power. We've never hooked water up to this Scamp nor have we put water in the holding tank. We've just never camped in a situation where we felt it necessary or had any desire to introduce water lines or tanks to our experience. The same goes for the gas. When purchased from the original owner it was demonstrated working but we've never used it. Always used a small electric heater included when needed and all our cooking has been done outside the Scamp; never wanted to deal with food prep/cooking and the mess potential inside. I assume these systems are intact and working but I can't demonstrate or guarantee. The
tires hold air but they are at least 10 years old; while they've had little mileage they're still getting up there in age so something to consider. The
battery was replaced in 2018 but I don't think storage was kind to it as it doesn't seem to be holding a full charge very long.
