Description:

Water fill adapter. This is a long version of what Bigfoot requires to fill the tank. It allows water to flow to the tank even though the filler pipe goes uphill. It allows air to escape back thru the filler neck during the tank fill, which is blocked if you just shove a hose into it. Also the vent line is to prevent tank collapse when drawing water, it cannot vent enough air during filling, hence Bigfoots requirement for the fill adapter to allow air to escape thru the filler hose. Tube is made from 1/2 inside-3/4 outside clear plastic hose and a brass garden hose end with a 1/2 nipple, all found at big box stores such as Lowes, Home Depot or Menards.

This is helpful! I am a new (to me) FB owner and was assuming something was wrong with my filler pipe - but seems like it's expected behavior.

Just saw this one too. Yes, I am on sort of a mission to educate people on something as simple as this which can create a disaster if you do it wrong.

I hope you are on the Bigfoot Owners Club International Forum (its one you pay for, and the activity is somewhat limited, but worth it still)

This is true of any travel trailer with gravity fill systems. For ones with underfloor tanks, you don't need a long one but still need one at least a foot or so in length, Camco makes such a thing, but for the Bigfoot with the above floor mounted tank, and a filler neck that is level with the tank fill port, a long one is much better.
