In the end, we simply felt like the Scamp was home for us and when we walked into the Escape and the Vintage Airstream. we simply felt no connection. In fact, I was really shocked because I had heard "if you like the Scamp, you'll love the deluxe Scamp or Escape." No so for us. We were also leaning towards a vintage Airstream because I grew up with one and loved it until I walked into one 4 weeks ago. I felt like there was a bit of a loss for me when I realized that was my dad's dream not mine.As a matter of fact, we are going to have a custom graphic made with my parent's Airstream numbers so they go where I go...Just a bit of the childhood.
Final Part
Oh, I also got a great app that weighed pros and cons and it came out heavily in favor of the scamp..lol 22nd century technology!!
Part 3
7. Our friends are at the top of their weight limit and worry all the time. We purposely bought a larger tow vehicle but we wanted lots of cushion-the more the better!
8. I love to redecorate and I would feel less like I wanted to make changes to a vehicle costing so much more.
Part 2
5. We love the idea of having a bit more to do..improvements..adding a cabinet here or there and ultimately, with the Escape there would have been less of that to do.
6. Some insurance companies/lenders will not loan on an RV made outside of the US. You can find those who will but for us, it was just something that we never wanted to worry about--our expectation is that in 5-6 years we will full time with this RV.
Well, part of it was a feeling....
1. The scamp just felt like home whereas the Escape was an additional 2 feet @ $10,000. Not for us...it just seemed huge on the outside yet not much bigger on the inside,
2. We have close friends that have a huge fiver and we knew that for us, it would accumulate too much stuff just like theirs has.
3. We are both pretty pro-American and we just liked the idea that by buying here, we were supporting US job growth-not a deal breaker but still it was important to us.
4. We like the idea that Scamp rallies are held locally in the US and we didn't want to have to plan to attend a rally in BC. While I spent a lot of time touring Canada as a kid, we do not want to have to plan that kind of trip if we weren't ready.
Go to part 2
Joanne and Eric on this site are selling their Escape 5.0 in May. We saw it yesterday and it was lovely. They are in Orlando right now. I think they said around $25,000 give or take... We wanted to see it but had already seen the Scamp fiver and as soon as we saw the Escape, called back and made the deal on the Scamp. We are awaiting the title coming by fedex so we can meet and pick her up. I think Dick and Joanne's is also a 2011 like the one we bought. We also found 2 other fiberglass rv-ers in the FT. Myers area..we should all meet for breakfast one day this Spring!
