Search forums problem
 

I am attempting to search for a specific topic. I open the search window but it closes as soon as I bring up the keyboard on my tablet. Is anyone able to help with this problem

Are you using the mobile version? Tablets and phones usually share the same versions of sites. Search works fine for me on both my phone and laptop.(2 different versions of fgrv.com)

I am using the website, not the app, on my android tablet.

Something else is not right. Time is shown as 3:53am. It is 11:55 pm here in Florida

It's a Japanese tablet.It's on Japan time. lol

try downloading the FGRV app and see if the search works correctly on it.

The search feature on the app is useless. For searching I always go to the website and use the "Site Search/Google" option. The app is great for reading and short posts, but not much more.

If you haven't already done so, shut down your tablet and reboot. This sounds like a tablet interface problem if you can't even get the keyboard to open without collapsing the search window.

I frequently access using several Kindle Fires, which I think are Android. Occasionally I get in a loop where a pop-up just keeps popping up as I close it. I think it is for email updates?

I agree try rebooting.

When you go to the SEARCH drop-down menu, be sure to type in your search word(s) in the LOWER window, not the upper one. The lower one works a lot better for some reason.

Thank ou for all of the advice, will try a reboot. Have downloaded the app which seems to work better

Reboot didn't work, still can't type in either search box. Time is 21 hours off, must be the foreign tablet, didn't pay my tariff!
Oh well, I still can follow everything and appreciate each one of you. Just call me "Day late and many dollars short!"

I am limping along with a 5-year-old iPhone 4 and a 7-year-old MacBook, both with out-of-date operating systems that apparently cannot be updated. Those Apple techs less than half my age give me that hopeless, patronizing look and say, "I'm sorry, we can't help you. It's vintage." I answer, "Are you talking about the phone... or me?!"

I'm never too surprised when things don't work exactly as they should, a statement that applies equally to me and my devices.

I have this same problem on my Android tablet. Instead of using search forums, use the lower google search site and you should find that working better for you.

Remember to use quotes on your search so you don't get every Tom, Dick and Harry indirect posts that comes up.

Like Balance tires Instead use "Balance tires" That way your search will show posts with Balance tires instead of all posts with Balance and all posts with tires and all posts with combinations of those 2 words.

Sorry to hear that, Shari! If you can't type in the boxes, the quote marks won't do you any good. I can't get new pics into my computer, so am running on two-year old ones or things I can grab online (but sometimes they crash my computer...sheesh!) Tech. Love it and hate it.
