2020, May 7-10: Pink Elephant Rally (formerly Pike's Peak, IA)

SAVE THE DATE:
May 7 - 10, 2020 at Pike's Peak State Park, McGregor, Iowa. Corky and Darlene started this rally this year, doing a great job, and CindyL and I will be continuing the rally in spring 2020. Renamed in honor of the former Pink Elephant Supper Club and Motel which used to be located at the site of the current riverboat casino.

Costs are about $16 per night for electric service. Water and dump station available. Reservations open 3 months prior to the rally. Search for Pike's Peak State Park.

Tentative schedule: May 7 - optional group dinner at a local restaurant at 5:30 p.m.; May 8 - group potluck at the park shelter, 5:30 p.m.; May 9 - Wine and snacks at the shelter at 5:30 p.m. The shelter is reserved just for our group all day on May 7, 8, and 9 for any other activities.

We hope to be hosting from site 62 once reservations open. Coffee every morning!

See you in 2020!

Cant miss a rally in my home state and plan on being there if at all possible. Had a fun time last year even though it was cool and rainy. Let us know if there’s anything we can help with. We get up that way on a regular basis throughout the year as it’s one of our favorite parts of the great State of Iowa. With this upcoming year being a presidential election year and the very important voting bloc of Fiberglass Campers United attending this rally I suggest inviting the presidential frontrunners for a debate. The topics being. Best craft beer on the market, great smoked meats I have known and Ford vs Chevy vs Ram vs Toyota Vs Nissan vs Honda. Which tow is right for you?

Might need to skip out a day to be celebrated for my retirement. The dean was planning a big celebration for all of us in December but now has moved me to May, likely right during the time this is set for. Dammit.

Hey Cindy,
We will keep the home fire burning if you have to be gone. If there’s some left over little sandwiches, maybe you can put a few in your pocket and bring them back?

I would definitely be interested in attending again this year. I enjoyed meeting my fellow egg owners. What sites are everyone on. Can we make reservations at this time? Please let me know if you need some help.
Happy New Year!

Here's to a great 2020 Scamping Season. I am sooo ready!

Jayne, reservations for this rally should open around Feb. 1 in the Iowa State Park system. See you there!

Kevin A 01-14-2020 03:45 PM

Just a reminder that registration for sites should be opening up soon in February! Use ReserveAmerica.com and count up 3 months to the date you plan to arrive (e.g. Register Feb. 7 for a site on May 7).

The registration window is now starting to open for the Pink Elephant Rally in May! The reservation system works 3 months prior to your planned arrival date. We are hoping to arrive on May 5, so that means I can get in the system on Feb. 5 to pick my site. Remember that we will be at the Pikes Peak State Park, McGregor, Iowa and the official rally dates are May 7-10.

Welcome to the rally!

She’s headed up river for the Pink Elephant Rally. She says she only has to make about 15 miles a day from New Orleans.

There's lot's to see and do in the area. Last years forum posting detailed things, but it appears not to be available now.

Post if you have questions on nearby attractions.

Michwill01 02-07-2020 07:04 AM

site #4. Looking forward to it! Thursday to Sunday

Iowa Dave 02-07-2020 09:21 AM

Mister Haberski
Having extensive knowledge of the many attractions in the area, and having slightly learned your personal preferences by suggesting possible experiences at a previous rally, I’d be most honored for a chance to TELL YOU WHERE TO GO! By the way, Bringin’ any cheese?
