Renovations
INTERIOR:
The previous owner had the foam and upholstery re-done in a navy blue velvet on top and navy vinyl on the bottoms. They also had wood grain vinyl plant flooring installed. Unfortunately, there have been many people with many different ideas and skill levels prior to Bertha arriving at my home. Someone had tried to paint the ensolite but either didn't use the right products or didn't prep well as it's now all flaking off. There are also lots of holes and marks on the interior fibreglass cabinetry so those still need to be filled and painted. The flooring was replaced with wood grain vinyl plank that will stay but I still plan to pull the cabinet doors off to paint and replace all hardware. I'll also sew new curtains and have replaced the light fixtures with new 12V LED lighting, with the exception of the original round lights at the ends of the upper cabinets.
EXTERIOR:
The previous owner had replaced the frame and the axle but she still needed more. I had her fully re-wired, new tires, enlarged the leaking vent from 9" to 14", and added trailer breaks. The windows still need to be tuned up and I plan to paint the exposed frame with black Tremclad. I had the safety chains replaced with a beefier version and had a runaway break cable installed. I also had the exterior outlet fixed. The biggest hurdle I have ahead of me is the paint. I plan to roll and tip as a previous owner had it painted with a beautiful dark midnight blue automotive paint with a nice sparkle to it and then added cute blue and pink pin striping to it. But someone along the way decided to paint the top half with a light blue and didn't do a great job of it. It now looks very beat up and many rivets are popping. I need to take this on before our rainy season starts again as some of the rivets are starting to leak as well. Once that's done, she'll be standing much taller!
