I have done both and prefer auto 2 part sprayed on compared to roll and tip marine.
Auto is more money, more prep but the finish is much better and in my opinion lasts much longer.

I agree sanding is probably necessary. Careful though the gelcoat isn't very thick. Test to see how quickly you can get to 6-800 grit sandpaper and still remove the oxidation.

If it were me I'd use a pl 400 type product...
If it were me I'd use a pl 400 type product between the joist and roof so it was a solid structure then connect the roof and joists with glass. It then becomes one piece.

I don't think the crack in itself is great cause for concern if the floor, frame and attachments all look ok. 50 or so years, the stress will show up somewhere.
