Sorry, I'm a bit confused by the "final 1/8 of an inch" piece. Are you suggesting digging out about 1/8" and then just fill it with body filler? Thanks again for the responses.

Yeah +1 for checking the grey sealant at the bottom outside corners of your windows. Definitely makes a difference for water infiltration.
