After looking at the windows a bit more, I think I am going to go down the route of just replacing the plexiglass, but keeping the original frames. I think I will spruce them up and find a way to fix...

Ya it's looking like it will be fairly expensive. I contacted a custom glass cutter here and they ballparked $12-14/sq ft CDN for tempered glass. But that would just be the glass.
