Since you've verified the sail is not hanging up maybe you can turn the furnace off and reach in with a long bent wire of something and operate the sail by hand and listen for the switch...

Sounds to me like the "sail switch" is not being operated when the fan is running. If the sail switch is not operated the gas will never come on.
