Yeah if you are just driving around you don't need 10 speeds so it skips some. When you are towing though it won't skip any unless maybe you are going downhill. Tow haul mode locks out 10th gear...

I have a 2019 Max tow Max haul 3.5 Eco with 10 speed. I think you will find that the 10spd is the cream on the top. It is beyond great.
