Boler L400 Lock Set Key Replacement

Hello Everyone,

The Bargman L400 lock set on my recently acquired '75 boler 13, while floppy, is still working, so I will be careful and try not to damage it further.

My dilemma is that I only have one key and cannot find a matching blank in any of the usual places, and I've whiled away many valuable but fruitless hours clicking around the interverse in my search.

The key is an original Bargman key with a hammered appearance and only one groove on each side, a wider one beside the right edge of the "B" side, and a narrower groove along the right side of the "Key Made in England" side.

How can I get a second key made if there are no blanks? Is there such a thing as a blank for blanks that can be cut?

I would like to solve this problem before it becomes a real problem, which is the story of my life thus far when it comes to keys!

There are a lot of Bargman key blanks for sale on eBay. Did you look there. When I needed extra keys for my Bargman L300 my local locksmith was able to order the blanks. He has since passed away so I can't ask him from where he got them.

Thank you! I did spend a lot of time clicking around ebay but didn't come across the configuration I need. I will try a locksmith and see what they say.

Take it to your local locksmith. As a retired locksmith we had thousands of blanks on hand for just about any problem. If we did not stock it we could order it.

I replaced our L400 with a new retro fit kit from campingtreasures.com. The original L400 lock isn't very secure. Just about any similar key would open it. I had 3 different keys on my keychain that would unlock it. Here's a picture with the new kit installed.

So perhaps I don't need to waste any more time finding the perfect key, if any key will do!! That's funny, (although not really!)!

I have thought about replacing the entire set, as mine is definitely long in the tooth and quite sloppy. So many things to replace though! I have added the new lock set to the list.

I see that you have one of those door-holder-openers. Where did you get yours? I would like to install one of those as well; getting tired of the door always slamming shut when I want it open.
