Yes, Bob, I have. We were in the county park just outside of Charleston, SC and noticed this realllly tiny camper. The very friendly owner, who was from Ontario, was travelling in it solo and she was happy to let us see inside.
I was quite impressed by how compact it was yet how large her bed was!!

The back opening door has its pros and cons, to be sure. But she was extremely happy with it.

Little Joe

There was a Little Joe at the Wine Escape Rally at Niagara Falls in 2016. They are pretty neat. The owner was happy with it.

littlle joes

seems they started out for use by utility companies and went into the camper field.

I don't know if they have a notch here or not but sure interesting!

We have a number of forum members with Weiscraft Little Joes as well as the older and similar Lite House trailers.

Surprisingly, they are nearly as heavy as a basic Scamp in spite of being 18" narrower. I suspect that's an indication of their roots as commercial trailers. They are commonly used as mobile work stations for repairing fiber optic cables, among other things.

I've read where people want these type/brands of trailers because they're narrow and the prospective owners have limited parking. They're forgetting the body sits inside the wheels, not over. Tire track is important when measuring

This is from a March 31, 2015 article in Trailer Life. Have you ever known them to go down in price

Likely not...

I think that Ponderosa is the fully loaded model, from what I have seen.

I don’t believe they go thru dealers ( I maybe wrong)
But when I visited their facility I got the impression that they sold them direct... pretty small setup almost built by 2 or 3 guys .... they were super nice and gave me plenty of time to ask questions and showed me the entire process
I would love to have one of these....

Buy a Weis Craft Factory Direct at:

Lightweight Trailers - Compact Travel Campers - Weiscraft Trailers

PESLUE is the "Best" fiber optic trailer manufacturer in the business. I have spoken with them at the 2016 NATDA yearly trade show about purchasing one empty for RV conversion and they were certainly interested in the concept of RV conversion and would sell a completed "empty" trailer to a customer. They were not interested in doing RV conversions themselves as their commercial business kept them busy.

Given the pricing Pelsue quoted to me at that time (about $12,000) for a complete empty trailer with a few items to help with a RV conversion I believe you could easily convert a Pelsue trailer to an RV to compete with the Weis Craft RV trailer mentioned above given the Weis Craft RV trailer base selling price of $18,500.

Here is a post from "Mark" at Pelsue from 2009:

Hi, I stumbled on your website doing research on another trailer of ours and found this thread. The trailer in the photo is an ATT fiberoptic splicing trailer made by our company. If you see one out there check out the vin and you will see it is made by the Pelsue Company here in Englewood Colorado. We manufacture these for ATT and other telecom companies such as Verizon and Qwest. We mold the bodies in Lamar Colorado and also have an assembly plant there as well. In addition to the trailer in the photo which is our Fiberlite POD we have an 11' foot long bodied trailer that is 6" wider and 6" taller that has a side door as well. This is a new trailer, the FiberliteXL will be available this summer.

Currently we manufacture these for construction and utility company use but have been asked if we would consider making them available for RV's or even produce an RV. That is something we are considering now and doing some research to help finalize a decision. In fact, that is how I found your great website.

Several years ago the first trailers we prototyped the idea to the phone companies with was a Weiscraft trailer. That trailer, while very good was too small for our needs. We then built our own set of 4 molds to our spec which resulted in a larger unit that had greater reinforcement and greater glass thickness for everyday duty consisting of off-road use behind construction trucks. Our trailer rides on an all aluminum frame and has a place for up to a 7KW genset out front. It can be fueled by either (2) 40 lb LPG bottles or an underbelly 20gallon, gasoline or diesel fuel tank.

I know Marty and Weisecraft and they are very fine people who make a great fiberglass camper with the Li'l Joe. They too are here in Colorado.

I hope this answers your question even though I was almost a year late in answering.

Right. The Trailer Life article is confusing. There are two models. The Little Joe is the more basic model with a stove, hand pump water system, and icebox (much like the base Scamp). The Ponderosa includes a wet bath, water heater, furnace, 3-way fridge, microwave, and A/C. That's on par feature-wise with a fully loaded Scamp front bath model.

little joe

mike I like everything about this trailer now trying to make a trade from my 5k scamper up to the little joe in price would be tough for me but no doubt there are some on the road.

the trailer with the dual axels certainly looks built to handle about anything I suppose those utility cos would load it up with about anything!
