Parkliner Bunkbed

Does anyone have the bunkbed option on their Parkliner?

If you have time the next time it is up could you take a photo or two of it. I have a fold out shelf on mine (over by the small table/single bed) and would like to modify it into a bunk. I would like to see which parts I would need to make.

Thanks. I bet it's tight. Hopefully only my guest will have to use it.

We took photos last weekend. Is it appropriate to post them here? Or should I send them to an email?

ParkLiner Bunk Bed

I've placed the photos in order. The first two digits of the filename show what order the photos should be viewed in. This might help some people with setting up the bunk bed as well. The filenames briefly explain what is going on. If you have questions, let me know.

Two of the attachments use hinges. The pins of the hinges were altered so that a handle is added, and the pins themselves were shaved to be more narrow and easy to attach/detach.

10 photos here, will add the 10 remaining photos on the next message.

Yes, we love the design. But my son is 19 now and 6'2" so he did not have a good sleep. The length is plenty, about 7'. When they were little, they fit into small bunk spaces. When my older son took the camper, adult friends of smaller stature slept on it without complaint. They had 5 people sleeping in the camper, 3 on the queen bed. I'm not sure how the three of us will manage in the future. The bunks will come in handy for grand kids some day.

The traditional Boler/Scamp bunk design also has fairly limited vertical clearance. Advantage is the top bunk is lower and easier to access compared to squashed-against-the-ceiling fold-out cabinets in vintage stickies.

I use our lower bunk regularly, and while getting in and out takes a little maneuvering, once in I can roll over easily without hitting the top bunk with my shoulder, so I get a good night's sleep. Curious how the clearance compares to your Parkliner.

One thing about Parkliner's design: your son can sleep on top. Can't do that in a Scamp due to weight limits.

For three, can you leave the bunk parts at home and use it as a single bed?

new bunk to come

my understanding is that new bunk will slide out like a drawer from the cubby area

Not really. If the bunk is not up, some of the platform is folded down into the space occupied by the bottom bunk. So with the queen bed out, the "single bed' is probably less than 5 ft long. When the bunks are up, the length is 7 ft long.

Whenever someone uses the single bed, I prop the cover to the cubby hole up giving them more room. Going to try to make or find a table to exstend the queen bed, making it longer. Won't have to climb over each other.

How do you prop it up? I'm afraid that if I prop it up, I'll knock the prop down in my sleep.

Parkliner Bunkbed

Hi,

We just got a 2019 Parkliner. Unfortunately, we only got the cushions for the top bunk bed and possibly one part of the platform.

Does anyone know where I can find drawings with measurements so that I can make the wood frame?

It seems there are two designs. I am willing to look at both.

Alternatively, willing to buy the bunk bed from someone that has no use for it.

Thanks

I also recently purchased a Parkliner of same era as yours. I also need bunk bed plans. Any luck finding some? If so, can you share them? Best image I could find is above.

Thank you!
Craig
