Best screen tent for a Trillium

Owners of a sweet 1975 1300 Trillium with a custom awning that has served us well for many years...but seeking input on what you would consider the BEST consideration for a SCREEN TENT for our situation. Best to buy a separate unit? Or something that can connect to our camper?

I agree on the Clam shelter! Have had ours for 3 years and love it. So simple to put up, that I can do it myself while my husband does other setup things at our site. Might take me little over a minute to pop it out!

I’d go with a separate detached shelter which, in most cases, can be set up over the picnic table no matter where it may be located. We’ve had a Pahaque 12x12 with the optional fly for several years and have been well satisfied with it. I’ve heard good things about the Clam but have no firsthand experience with them. We’ll set up both the awning and the screen room when staying three or more nights at the same location.

We have both. We have a Dometic Patty-O-Room (now discontinued) that attached to the awning. But they make several screen rooms but I've seen a picture of the Cabana room on a fiberglass trailer and it looks like it would work. The really nice thing about a screen room attached to the trailer is you get way less bugs inside the trailer.

We have a 1976 Trillium 1300, and for us, we use the 10×10 Dometic with an add a room. We use the add a room in the event we end up staying for several days or more. What we use for keeping the bugs out is a coconut lemongrass by Scentsy. Does a great job of keeping the bugs out!

We use the CLAM shelter. It easily goes up in less than two minutes, really holds up well to high winds, keeps us warm (with a propane fire pit), dry from the rain (with optional side curtains on), and bug free (it has noseeum screening). It fits 12 friends for socializing, and fits over a large picnic table.

Does the Clam fit fairly tightly up to your campers ?
I have an "84 Scamp 13 and this sounds like a great soution to the spring black flies !

We've had a Dometic Cabana for 3 years and love it. Even have had a propane catalytic heater (properly vented) going in it, so we sit outside in cold weather. It's made for something else tall, but works just fine. Threads in the awning channel.

It does NOT fit tightly up to the camper. It is a stand alone shelter, but sure makes for a great roomy area outside the trailer. We have a screen door on our LS, as we also had one in our Scamp 13.

We bought the Clam Escape, it doubles your living space. We also bought the wind panels. We were able to get a good price for the wind panels from Bed Bath & Beyond, using their discount coupons.

My 6 sided Clam was a bit too big and heavy to suit me, so I sold it and bought a 5 sided Gazelle. A bit less expensive also. Just another option. They do set up and go down rather quickly, and have fine mesh screens. But best used in cooler weather as the mesh inhibits breezes, so in hot weather the room is even hotter.

+1 for the Dometic Cabana. We've used ours a lot over the years. For us, it basically feels like we've doubled the area of our trailer.

I regard the two as equivalent for how they hold heat. Both have the fine mesh screen that blocks tiny bugs and gentle breezes equally well.

We took out our "new" 1980 Trillium 1300 deluxe this week for a trial run. We not happy at all with the awning. So I've been reading..Our awning is a dometic with an add on screen room. Attaches with velcro around the sides. This cabana looks interesting and I believe would use the awning rail that is on the camper. So this gives you weather and bug protection as well. Thoughts? Jane from Gardner MA
