Scamp fiberglass gelcoat color matching

Hey everyone -- so we did a near-complete renovation of our 1988 Scamp last year but didn't quite finish all of the gelcoat rework required for the camper before we put it up for the season. Fast forward to another year of system prep (now prep for sale) and our reserve gelcoat has basically kicked the bucket and refuses to cure. We'd picked up five gallons of gelcoat from Scamp directly last year to use and unfortunately I confirmed with them that they can't ship gelcoat from their factory (but they do sell it).

Our upper half is 75% or more coated with new Scamp gelcoat (the original was badly discolored/yellowed) but needs some intermittent patching and a full new coat on the very top before I'll be totally happy with it. That means that if we want to have a reasonable aesthetic look, the gelcoat has to be color-matched to the Scamp gelcoat.

Tl;dr, does anyone have experience gelcoating Scamp trailers with something other than Scamp gelcoat in patches and did y'all do any color matching to make it happen? We're looking at TotalBoat, Fiberglass Depot, and Evercoat (probably not this one because it's so damn expensive), and some at least have colorants, but we have no experience with any of these.

(or, anyone near Backus want to pick up and ship us a gallon?)

Problem it is hazard ship so you need Scamp to order from MFG and have it dropped ship to you. Your old pail show mfg or it it a repack? Does it have color code?

IF the trailer was sitting for a long period of time, it's possible one side of the trailer has a different 'shade' of gelcoat than the other (or front, or back). UVs (and wax!) can affect the gelcoat. So, while you may find a gelcoat color that matches some of the areas, it may not match all the areas.

Good call on the hazard shipping aspect of it -- unfortunately the old pail is long gone so no way to reference that direction. Might be able to get that info back from their parts department, but everyone answering the phones is at least one level away from the right information.

Matching color today may wind up being different color as it ages.
Me, Paint is the answer.
