Thought I’d Escaped

I came to Tucson for the winter but couldn’t outrun the snow. This was a few days ago. Now it’s going back to 70 tomorrow!

I went to AZ for the winter as usual and found it cooler and wetter than what I’d experienced before. Spent too much time inside my Escape19. Came back to Michigan and a lot of snow. Then more snow and there’s a blizzard going on right now. But I have much more space at home than a guy alone needs but it’s working for me.

Palm trees with snow on 'em! Too funny.

When I left the Tucson area Tuesday morning, I 10 was slowed to a crawl from a short, driving snowfall. I'll bet the snowbirds were really bummed.

It’s now jumped back to 70 degrees! It melted pretty fast. Snow birds hated it but local loved the novelty of it.

I was born and raised in Tucson and can tell you first hand what a joy it is to experience snow as a kid. It happened maybe 4 times in the 18 years I lived there.
Of course, the schools closed and no one ventured too far away from their home. The sad part was that there was never enough snow to build a proper snowman!

Drove home from Phoenix through Payson and along the Mogollon Rim last night. I’ve never seen so many elk on the highway. Six separate encounters, the largest of which was a herd of 30 or more.

Finally realized they’re after the road salt left behind from last week’s storm.

Be careful in the high country after dark!

We did a cycle this trip from Tucson to Phoenix to Yuma and then up to St George.

We got flooded in at Catalina SP then lots of cold weather. Delayed our arrival to St George to avoid snow there too. Route home will have to be the southern route as Amarillo TX will be 7F Sunday night!!!
