Fiberglass repair shops in AZ

Hello,

I have a Burro camper that was involved in a rear-end accident. Can anyone suggest a repair shop in Arizona that is familiar with the Burro.

Standard answer is - "any boat repair shop can do it", but when it comes to AZ... Maybe a boat repair shop somewhere around lake Mead, NV? Just a guess.

I'd guess there are boat repair shops in Phoenix and Tucson. There are plenty of recreational boaters state-wide. Some auto body shops can handle fiberglass, and of course there are specialty Corvette shops. A shop familiar with the Burro? Not likely, and in the end, not necessary. Fiberglass is fiberglass.

The issue is going to be cost. Even a relatively minor accident will often total a fiberglass trailer for insurance purposes. How extensive is the damage? Is insurance involved?

I would be collecting comps to establish the currect market value of your trailer. The insurance companies will use NADA, which means nada when it comes to molded fiberglass trailers. You can fight for a higher valuation using recent ads for comparable trailers, which will also affect how much an insurer might be willing to pay for repair.

Finding a shop that has worked on a Burro might be difficult. If it was me, I would look for an auto body shop that worked on Chevy Corvettes. Maybe contact a few Chevy dealers and Corvette clubs. Corvette owners are very dedicated to keeping their cars nice, and may have some god recomendations. Best of luck.

Hi & Thank you for your responses! I will definitely call some boat repair shops in the Valley. I had a client sell me the Burro recently. It was damaged when I bought it from him, he assured me its just fiberglass damage but I looked under the back end and saw some of the plywood flooring is torn and exposed. I will try to figure out how to upload pictures onto these threads

If you're fairly 'handy', you could try repairing the fiberglass damage yourself.
I bought a U-Haul camper (pretty similar construction) that had been rear-ended by a semi... and though I'd done auto-body work before, I had done very little fiberglass repair.
Though it's somewhat messy & stinky (& itchy), fiberglass repair isn't all that hard to do. For far less than you'd pay a shop to do the work, you could buy a medium-sized air compressor & some tools... the resin etc isn't very expensive, it's mostly the labor hours you'd pay someone else for.
If you're not 'handy', you can disregard this post........no problem.

Hello, I will call my mobile mechanic who has a shop in Mesa and PM you. He was outstanding when I bought my Winnebago Motorhome. If he doesn't do it, he will know someone in Mesa camper repair. You can get everything done in Mesa!
The other person you could reach out to is The Sailboat Shop at Lake Pleasant. Tom, the owner, is great. He could give you some names, I'm sure.
