Converters Re: 79 Triple e

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone upgraded from the original converter in the Surfside Triple e and if so, what model did you convert to and how did the conversion work out? Mine is a 79 and the converter is very limited. I would really like to have something that would charge my battery while on 110 power and a 12v to 110 feed into the 110 volt receptacle so that the battery could supply to the receptacle.

Sounds lke you need 2 things. You need an upgrded converter/charger and you need a 12v to 110 inverter. The inverter would need to be hooked up to some type of switch so that is could be turned off while the rig is hooked up to 110. You might be better off just having a dedicated plugin for the inverter rather than have it feed all the 110 outets.

As far as an inverter, you need to figure out what you intend to run. I want a 1000W microwave, so I am shopping for a 1500W inverter. The 12VDC current that feeds the inverter may be as large as 125 to 150 amps. The 12VDC wire between the inverter and the battery, should be both large, and short. Then just plug into the inverter an extension cord to the load that you want to run. On a set of really good batteries, I would not run a 1000W load more then 45 minutes.
