Good idea! Since I was in a hurry, in a bit of wind storm, and unsure whether I was really allowed to use this scale, I just got on then back off again pretty fast. But it would have been good to check the weight connected, then disconnect and put the tongue jack down and see the total weight. Next time. I drive by that rest station fairly often; just never thought to sneak onto the truck scale before.
Yes, it's really nice to get some idea. Which made me go back to this tag and read it a bit more closely for the first time. I had seen these numbers and just read them as the weight of the trailer, but clearly I've got a weight
rating, a dry weight (1873lb dry weight from the factory?), and a "tongue load range", which is just a number, not a range...
Anyway, knowing an actual wet, loaded weight is helpful. Especially since this is with essentially everything I own in the trailer. There's definitely some heavy stuff stored in my truck, too, but the trailer had everything it would normally have in it. This should be very to close to as heavy as it gets. The fresh water was only at about 3/4, since I don't like traveling with any more than I think I'll need. I do fill it completely just before "camping" somewhere for the week while I'm working. So it does travel short distances with a little more weight than the scale showed, but if I'm driving more than an hour, I rarely have any fresh water in it at all if there's any chance of finding water closer to the destination.
