1974 Perris Pacer Renovation

Hey Y'all! I hope you are doing well. I feel fortunate to have spent some good time with my family and friends this weekend, while working on the Pacer. The world is dealing with all types of crazy! Floods (Asia and Texas) and fires (SoCal) and bigotry (Charlottesville). Peace and Love people, Peace and Love.

So, since the flooring went down, we started adding the floor cabinets back in, albeit temporarily. It goes together like a jigsaw puzzle. It's great to see progress. I've been fixating on finishing the exterior lights so we can move this show along! Nothing is linear in this project. It's like hopscotch. One step forward, one to the side then another step forward.

This weekend we installed the tail and running lights. Lots of prep, lots of butyl putty and lots of love.

Perris Pacer

Dear Fredomatic,

I am interested in what/how you are redoing the Perris Pacer. Seems like you are working hard. Where in California do you live?

Hi Ilene. We are in Southern California. Near Los Angeles. Where are you? You're welcome to stop by and see our progress. Did you find your Pacer?

Hi Fred,

We are in Humboldt County - opposite end of the state. You and your family are doing a fabulous job on the Pacer. I sent you a private message...

I love the cork floor and that will go great with the natural finish of the varnished wood doors.

Lights really make a camper come alive don't they? Plus, now you can pull it out for the weekend and use your glorified tent even if its not quite complete.

Keep on keepin' on Fred - its looking great.

Peace

This one is funny. All you need to do is photoshop out the supports and it can be free floating...

Ilene, the egg was painted professionally. I contemplated doing it myself but after a bit of investigation I knew it was it was worth paying for to have it done right.

The inside walls are currently uncovered. Dereck at Happier Camper gifted me some foam rubber like material that was used in the original Trillium trailers. It has an 'elephant skin' texture on one side and smooth on the other. This will go on after all the wiring and exterior body parts are attached.

Fun fact, after stripping off the original interior quilting, We scraped and ground off the old adhesive that was crusted inside the hull. Once smooth, we painted the hull with a ceramic insulation paint. It may turn out to be snake oil but I wanted to add another layer of insulation without going down the cellular foil route like the die hards do.

Cheers

Thanks Buggeee! Next step, complete the interior wiring.

Thanks for this great description. I'm not sure what we are going to with a stripped inside...

Snake oil, huh?

I have seen the cellular foil, but looks daunting. And then, what to put over that. Sure wish we lived closer to you, so I could have you consult. Remains to be seen as what we finally do...

Looking good!

Happy to see you're back. Your egg is looking great. I love the two toned paint job, looks luxe!
