I got this 1976 Surfside TM-14 from my inlaws. It was all original. Rather than starting a new topic every time I make an alteration to the surfside I figure I would just start one big topic and keep adding to it.
So here it goes.

The first thing I did was tear out the ugly dirty shag carpet and replace it with Traffic Master Allure Resilient Plank Flooring. (Hickory) It made a huge difference.
Here are a few pics. I ran out of the flooring so I have to buy another box to finish it. I also have to add some to the step up and do some trim
here are few pics of the new floor

The second thing I wanted to tackle was the upholstry. It was in pretty rough shape. I decided to try it myself and it turned out pretty well. I wanted to go with a funky fabric to go along with the 70's age of the egg.
Here are a few pics

I'm currently sewing up new curtains. I should have them done this week then I will add updated pics. I plan to do the following in the next couple of years
1. new laminate on countertop & table
2. clean, paint ensolite, replace seam tape with silicone
3. add stainless steel backsplash
4. add stainless steel to front of fridge
5. add screen door
6. paint exterior
7. Add storage above dinette
I'm sure I will find some more stuff that needs attention
If you have any suggestions on what else I should do please let me know.

I have finished sewing the curtains. I made sure I lined them so they don't fade in the sun. I also finished up the floor. Here are a few updated pics.

that's night and day compared to what you started with.
I know when I brought mine home with the orange floral decor, my wife looked
at me like I had a third eye. now she calls it cute and comfy.
we should plan a meet next spring. or even a coffee some time.

thanks Scott
We should plan a meet at Birds Hill or something. It looks like there are alot of Egg owners in the Winnipeg area. I would love to see your 1975 Surfside. If you ever want to meet up for coffee just send me a PM.
Cheers

Hi Scott and Darren,
There seem to be a lot of Surfsides around the Peg. My dad just bought one that looks a lot like yours, Darren - same two color outside. While I was visiting recently we also saw another parked out in Headingly.
I think a meet out at Bird's Hill is a great idea!
I did notice that you do not have cupboards above your stove - mine does and dad's does not - am wondering whether those are only in certain years? were an option? or ?
Great job on the floor and cushions!

I'm not sure about cupboards above the stove. Maybe it was an extra you would have to pay for. I wish mine had them. I'm thinking I might try and add some more cupboards.
It's funny since I have joined this website I see surfside's & Bolers & trilliums all over the province.

and I should get over for a visit too. just working on the date and location for the Wpg rally. waiting to find out when the Emily meet is so we can draw some folks on the way to/from there. lacation may change too. maybe Stevenfield or St. Malo. want to find somewhere that has lots of stuff to do for those bringing kids.
does everyone book electrical sites at these events?

Is this one strictly for folks from Winterpeg, or can those of us from Ontario show up too?
Just let me know where these places are, and perhaps I'll be able to swing it.
On a side note, I'm noticing more and more people from MB, AB, and BC on this board all the time. Neat.

I'm in the Polo Park area. But the Surfside lives in Dauphin for the time being. Once I get a truck I will haul it to the Peg.
I'm down for a meet up. It doesn't have to be just winnipegers either. Anyone with an egg is welcome.
Spruce Woods would be a nice place for a meet up. It's about 1.5 hour from Winnipeg. Close to Carberry. It's located in Manitoba's only desert.
Any thoughts?
