We finally got a Uhaul!

Hi everyone,

After spending a lot of time looking around this forum, we decided on a 13-foot Uhaul--thanks so much for all the information! We found one in Las Vegas (we are in San Francisco) so we took the trip to pick it up from a really nice couple last Friday. It is incredibly cute, just wonderful. We have named it Roly Pully because that's what it does, and it looks like a roly poly bug. I am able to work remotely half the month, so we just go to Internet cafes to get and send my work, and I can work on the bed, it's just great! We camped on the way home in the Eastern Sierras, which is shown in the picture.
It has an air conditioner in the back, which we are going to remove. We hope to buy a window from Scamp to replace that window, as well as the one in the front so that it opens, if that's possible. We also have to make a permanent bed, a desk in the front, add some LED lights, work on the wiring, etc. But on the whole, it's in really good shape. The previous owner bought it from a man who had bought it from Uhaul, and the first owner made a few alterations that aren't so great, but we can undo them without much trouble.
Anyway, thanks again for all the great information you have posted here, it was really helpful.

Congratulations and welcome to the UHaul club. Your picture looks right out of a 1985 UHaul commercial.

Scamp rear window will fit in the rear by slightly widening the opening, I put one in our Uhaul. Don't know about the front, or even if it is a good idea to have a slider window in the front. I've done a lot of upgrades to ours, 12 & 110 lights, new power converter, storage baskets, and some other stuff. If you need more info on the rear window let me know. Bob

Ms.Linda,
Glad you got your UHaul.

' Roly Pully ' sure looks GREAT in that incredible picture that looks almost
like an oil painting. (in addition to the advert mentioned)

Really nice folks here, welcome to the family!!

Happy UHaulin and Thanksgiving!!!

Ditto to all the welcoming comments!

You now need to get an orange stripe for your tow vehicle to complete the look. (Cindy L's idea, to give her credit.) Regarding the opening front window: you may find that it would have a propensity to leak when towing due to the force of the wind. Of course, if you make a rock guard to cover it when driving, you should be OK. I couldn't tell from the picture if it has the guard already.

There is a much less active forum at uhaulcampers.com, but there is great archival material there.
