1986 17’ Casita value
I’ve got a 1986 Casita, 17’, front shower, AC unit in rear window opening. I’m second owner, basically used it for hunting trips for 2-3 weeks per year. Time to sell. Most everything works ok, good tires, brakes, spare. What’s it worth? Think I paid about $5k, 10 years ago.. thx.

1986 17’ Casita value
I don’t think Casita made a 17’ model until the late 90’s. Could it possibly be a 16’? Do you have any photos?

We have a '96 SD17. I believe that was the first year the 17's were made.

It’s a 16’, decent shape, not perfect. What’s a reasonable price or a range of value? Thanks.

Rough guess, $8-10K. For a better idea, check out the classified ads here and at www.fiberglass-rv-4sale.com. Both sites maintain archives of previous sales as well as current listings.

IMHO, to get $8-10k for a 35 year old trailer, it would have to be in /really/ nice condition, everything well maintained, fresh batteries, tires, brakes, all appliances working great, zero issues, and very clean and shiny.

I think the value is about what you paid for it.
If so, you got ten years use for zero depreciation, which is awesome.

So, got the ‘86 Casita out of storage and dewinterized it. Here’s most if the good, bad and ugly.
1. Good tires (spare) and brakes 3-4 years old, low miles since I’ve had it. Probably less than 3000.
2. Look like upper vent cover gave up the ghost, cracked this winter. Parts? Who from?
3. Needs a good buff out, sticker fade exterior.
4. Stove, hot water tank work good.
5. Shower, front sink good.
6. Fridge works barely, AC only. Not on propane or DC.
7. Nice awning.
8. Some fiberglass cracks, no leaks or soft spots.
9. Recarpeted, new cushions.
10. Blue shag insulation, good shape.
11. Always stored covered or inside.
Does that help with estimates on pricing.?

1986 17’ Casita value
How’s the frame? Those older Casitas are prone to crack toward the front.
Where in WA? Prices are higher in Seattle and vicinity.
Replacing the broken vent and polishing the exterior would add value at minimal cost. Fridge might just be a dirty burner or bad thermocouple.

Thx. No cracks I could see. Will look again. We’re in Spokane area, not the left coast. Any recommendations on parts or replacement vent cover? I bought some fiber gall buff coumpound. Even with a orbital that’s a ton of work. Thanks.

gel coats buff out pretty easily, using a simple marine gelcoat friendly polish.
the vent covers for like fantastic fans and stuff are readily available but I'm not sure what was on a 1986 model.
if its a generic vent, there's a pile of generic covers, like these, https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-RV_...ement_Lid.aspx
or go cadillac and replace teh whole thing with a Fantastic Fan or similar,
https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Vents-an.../FV801350.html
that would be a significant upgrade if it doesn't have a fan.

I would say around $5k as is, $6-7 if in tip top shape. Prices are usually higher in spring but who knows this year.
