Hi Roger,
I can't help you much, but I have the same
furnace and I just finished 'tuning' mine up a little, which involved some basic cleaning and lubricating the motor to get rid of a squeal. I also fixed an intermittent 'flame-out- of the pilot flame which happened when the
furnace tried to cycle itself on (basically, the weak flame 'blew out' from the combustion air). I adjusted the flame a little larger, and the problem went away.
I wonder in your case, if the mild bit of heat is only from the pilot itself. You aren't getting the main combustion burner to ignite (you should be able to see this happen if you check it with
lights out and darkened). There are probably several reason for this, if jets/tubes are positioned incorrectly or possibly burned out inside the burner area, gas regulator in the
furnace mechanism, and other things I know little about. I'm surprised your service person wouldn't have found something amiss.
Let us know how you make out.
